Production Timeline
July 14th, 2024
It was announced via the L.A.B. Productions Instagram that L.A.B. Productions would once again return to the Teen Film Challenge in 2024. There was a reel announcing this return stated by Ryan Sams as well as a "we are so back" post.
July 15th, 2024 - July 24th, 2024
Each day, a new production member was announced to be part of the film's cast and crew. They were announced by the order of their first appearance in a L.A.B. Productions project. The crew announced (in this order) were Logan Bauer, Karis Bauer, Ryan Sams, Grayson Beckham, Brendan Beluan, Francis Chan, Jake Dougherty, Andrea Tiu, Alexa Massey and Kevin Mendez Diaz.
August 1st, 2024
Logan Bauer, Andrea Tiu, Ryan Sams and Grayson Beckham met up prior to attending the kickoff event for the Teen Film Challenge, and everyone was given a L.A.B. Productions T-Shirt. They drove to the event together.
At the event, all teams were informed their films must have a newspaper or magazine as a prop.
Logan Bauer randomly drew the title "Lovable Losers" and genre "espionage".
After returning to the house to plan, the team got Canes (courtesy of Joey Olivo) and began planning. Karis Bauer returned from theatre and Brendan Beluan showed up later. Andrea had to leave not long after.
After talking as a collective, it was decided to make the film about a couple torn apart by sabotaging each other for a better position at a newspaper, where they are "espionaging" each other.
Logan Bauer began writing the film while the group put on the movie Burned After Reading. He finished writing it at 3am.
August 2nd, 2024
Everyone got to St. X to film at 10am--this included all from the day prior (apart from Karis) as well as Kevin Mendez Diaz. Jake Dougherty happened to be there because of practice just ending and was then able to be included as an extra.
The scenes filmed at St. X were filmed in the following order:
The opening office party scene
The walk out of the office
The final meeting with Mr. Sullivan
Dropping off the dirt
The first meeting with Mr. Sullivan
Giving Mr. Sullivan the portfolios
Mr. Sullivan reads the dirt
Everyone went home, with Logan, Andy and Ryan going back to the house to film the dinner scenes.
The second mini-challenge in the TFC 2024 GroupMe was announced, and Despicable Guys was quickly filmed, edited, and put out.
The home scenes were filmed in the following order:
Sally at the computer
First dinner
Second dinner
Third dinner
Preparing the dirt
Computer/newspaper comparisons
Ryan went home and cleanup began.
Logan started editing the film while Andrea watched The LEGO Movie and then Monsters University. She had to leave afterwards.
August 3rd, 2024
Logan edited the film all day, beginning at 9am.
The logo was made.
He submitted the film and required forms at around 9pm.
August 4th, 2024
Logan went to the required leadership retreat at St. X for seniors, which is why he was unable to edit that day and had to finish the film the day prior--meaning L.A.B. Productions had a full day less to make their film than every other team.
After getting home, his family left for vacation at 11pm.
August 5th, 2024
On the drive to vacation, Logan made Bloopers - Lovable Losers and Official Trailer - Lovable Losers and released the trailer.
Logan later started making the poster.
August 6th, 2024
Logan finished the poster.
The following items were also made:
The film's thumbnail, to be used after the premiere (a basic one was used beforehand)
Soundtrack - Lovable Losers album cover
Bloopers - Lovable Losers thumbnail
Soundtrack - Lovable Losers thumbnail
The temporary profile picture using the film's branding for the L.A.B. Productions Instagram

August 7th, 2024
Work began on putting the new items on the L.A.B. Productions Website
August 8th, 2024
Website implementation continued
Added it to IMDb and TMDB (for Letterboxd implementation)

Francis Chan was nominated for best original soundtrack.
Andrea Tiu was nominated for best actress for her role as Sally Redux.

Trivia
The film's newspaper, The Grapevine, is a clear homage to The Blueprint, St. X's student newspaper which Logan Bauer, Grayson Beckham and Jake Dougherty (all cast/crew on the film) are part of.
This is the first L.A.B. Productions film to release after the 2024 logo redesign. It uses it in the film itself and in its branding (poster, etc.).
The name "Lloyd" came from the instance where Logan Bauer was mistakenly called Lloyd by a member of the St. Xavier faculty.
The writer photo used for Lloyd is a screenshot from the L.A.B. Productions at Teen Film Challenge 2024 video featuring Ryan Sams.
Kenyon Byrd was able to narrowly cameo in the film's credits in the "Missing in Action" portion.
The final credits article references Despicable Guys.
The first credits article mentions The Evil Blueprint, which is the group of antagonists from The Fall of the Blueprint from JBWUX Productions.
The frame of Francis Chan as Mayor Bogard is from BlueDesk Concert Series III: Francis Chan and his Divinely-Inspired Piano.
The phone number on the Kenyon Byrd article in the credit spells out HEL-PMR-BYRD ("Help Mr. Byrd") on a number pad.
The trailer is purposefully misleading, using a lot of unused footage and shots from scenes that were cut for time or were simply bloopers. It is also edited to cut out the part about the two fighting in any way, instead being vague.
The trailer purposefully leaves out Grayson Beckham to hide how crucial of a role he plays in the film.
The trailer was edited on the drive to vacation on a 12-hour car ride.
The bonus tracks were all songs made by Francis Chan during the 2024 Teen Film Challenge period that weren't used in the film.
Unlike the Soundtrack - A Difficult Game video from the year prior, this video just features a static image of the album art with no on-screen indicators of what song is playing. Instead, viewers can go to the description to find timestamps for each song.
Some songs are reused from other projects:
"The Film Commences" was made for A Difficult Game (2023)
"Chill Time" was made for Calvary at the Courtyard Remastered (2023)
"Facility Boss" was used in The Breadwinner Remastered (2023)
"The Film Commences" is the opening song for both Teen Film Challenge films, and its title can be abbreviated to TFC, just as Teen Film Challenge can.
"Screaming Computer" was used in Bloopers - Lovable Losers.
The thumbnail for the blooper video is the only instance in the Lovable Losers branding where the tear in the newspaper is opened, and that is the case here since it reveals previously-unseen content.
The conversations in the office party in the blooper video consist of:
References to the Diddy party
Referencing R. Kelly
Referencing the plot of Burned After Reading, which was watched prior to recording the film
Referencing the plot of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith
Referencing The Tragedy of Macbeth / All Is But Toys
